Aitezaz Ahsan is a lawyer, politician, human activist and a writer. By profession he is Barrister at Law and senior Advocate at the Supreme Court of Pakistan. He is the former President of Supreme Court Bar Association, former Leader of the house, former Leader of the Opposition in senate and the former Law, Justice and Interior Minister.

Aitzaz Ahsan has been admitted to an Honorary Fellowship at Downing College, which is one of the constituent colleges of the University of Cambridge. The US magazine Foreign Policy has also named him as one of the top 100 public intellectuals in the world in May 2008.
