Do we have too many holidays in Pakistan?

Written By: Shahzeb Hussain

Seems like these days, every other day is a holiday in Pakistan. Blast in Pakistan? Holiday. An official killed? Holiday. Strike? Holiday. Death anniversary of on official? Holiday!

Just how many holidays must we have?  Religious holidays aside, how many holidays should we get, because to me it seems that we get a lot of them, don’t you think? See, our economy isn’t the greatest in the world. The days of 60 rupees to a dollar is gone and it’s almost a hundred rupees now – in about 5 years. That’s saying something.

well, atleast someone understands

Now then, the people of Pakistan already get their Sundays, that’s 48 days, off in a year. Add to these the Labour Day holiday, Christmas and Eid holidays and what not.  I mean doesn’t anyone ever think that all these holidays is what’s keeping us behind?

Think about it, while we are here enjoying all these holidays, wishing for one more, the rest of the world, wishes they didn’t have so many holidays. It’s quite simple, the more holidays you have the more your losing out.

…… Hello…is it me your looking for? (Who said that?)

See, I don’t have a problem with holidays, like any other person I love them and can’t get enough of them. I mean who doesn’t enjoy a day off from work or school right? Wouldn’t it be better to have a holiday knowing that we can take a day off without it affecting us? Seems to me that every holiday we take, the more our economy suffers.

Now a few months back, there were reports that people wanted even more holidays, apparently Sunday wasn’t enough for them, which they had to ask for Saturday as well.

This is exactly what I’m talking about! How are we supposed to progress and revive the economy when our own people don’t want more holidays and wish not to work?

So what do you think? Do you think we have too many unnecessary holidays?

Let us know!
