It is said that you can tell a lot about a person’s character by analyzing the way they treat the servants who work for them and this is very true indeed. Just because we pay someone to work for us does not been they are our property or slaves. They are human beings also who feel insulted, hurt and offended just like all other people. Some people treat their servants so badly it is awful to even think about the conditions and circumstances that they have to deal with. Who are we to degrade or demean their self respect? Who are we to think of ourselves as superior beings?

We pay people we employ to work in offices and we also pay teachers and school administration to teach our children but do we treat them the same way as our servants and domestic staff? Why do people consider them to be like low life forms that have no value at all? Some people are so harsh that they abuse their servants, some even indulge in physical abuse and they do not pay them well at all. What we don’t realize is more than they need us we need them. Most of us our so dependent on servants that are lives would be miserable without their domestic assistance. Although they are paid to work for us they deserve a little bit of kindness and appreciation from our side. They deserve to be treated like human being not animals.

For us to take advantage of someone’s helplessness is very cruel. If they work for us under harsh circumstances it is because they really need the finances to be able to support themselves and their families. Most of them are not even poor people but the reasonably well off with their own land, house, cattle in rural areas who become poor when they come to the urban side due to the lack of cash in villages. Regardless of them being rich or poor they deserve to be treated well and fair. If you see someone mistreating their servants you can easily judge the kind of ethical values they hold.

Why do people treat their servants like low life forms? Just because they are poor it doesn’t make them any less human. Do you feel the way a person treats their servants reflects their personality?
