Double standards are the known norm in our society. What we detest with a vengeance only minutes later is echoed by our own actions. Why is it that we hold so much respect for the influential corrupt and punish the smaller crooks? Is the law more flexible for the bigger frauds?

We might be looking down upon a higher positioned corrupt official but in front of them our spite is coated with fake acceptances and warm accommodation. We receive them with open arms and seek for their approval, insisting on their attendance at a family event. We like to name drop on those who we speak ill of in our next breath. Why such hypocrisy when a thief is a thief no matter how big or small!

If we manage to catch our domestic help take an item of need, we leave no room for mercy for them. Should we not reserveadopt the same anger towards those who misuse our taxes, steal away from our resources, and are selling away our land by exploiting their position? Those in power are stealing away from us, our children and yet we allow them to do so, isn’t our hate towards them also hypocritical? We only punish the ones we can and let the bigger frauds go scot free!
