Gun ownership in Pakistan

The number of locals who own guns in Pakistan is absolutely astonishing! Whether they are authority figures or not that is beside the point, they will still have a gun. Some even consider gun ownership a must in this country for various different reasons the main one being to ensure their safety. There was a time when people would strongly protest for the ban on arms and ammunition but sadly that is not even a possibility anymore. So it is said guns have become a necessity in our part of the world but how many of you agree to this?

There are people who have licensed weapons, they use them for hunting or just keep them for their own safety but do you agree with this? What about when these weapons are misused? There are teenagers and young boys who carry around guns as if they were toys to show a certain level of control and authority or merely just to show off because they consider it very bad boy-ish! Why do the parents even allow them to take hold of the weapons especially if they are under age? Are they unaware of the dangers of a loaded gun and how it can harm their own children?

The youth of today is very emotional and they rarely ever think before they act. God forbid something goes wrong who is going to be responsible for the loss? The parents, the children or the government for letting these dangerous weapons fall into the wrong hands. Agreed, owning a gun may not always be a bad thing and some people only make use of it when necessary, but who can guarantee that everyone who has a licensed weapon will never misuse it?

Do you feel gun ownership should be banned or do you think it is justified under certain circumstances? Can arms and ammunition be eradicated completely or at least forbidden for the general public licensed or not?
