Every child desperately awaits their 18th birthday and why shouldn’t they? They finally get to cross over from being called a child to an adult. They become what is known as legal! In Pakistan being 18 has two additional benefits: getting your official national identity card and yes the much awaited driver’s license.
When the child turns 18 most parents also allow them a certain amount of freedom and start treating the child like an adult and the importance they are given is what helps them become mature and take a step forward into real life.
How many of these 18 year olds actually use this authority to bring about a positive change? At this age in Pakistan teenagers are also blessed with the right to cast their votes in the parliamentary elections.
Not many make use of their right to vote yet most of them complain about the corrupt leaders that are running their country. Why complain when you don’t want to take a stand and change things? Why crib and shift blames on one another when you yourself aren’t willing to change the situation or do anything about it?
All we people do is complain non-stop but very few actually try to change things they are not happy with. If something bothers us or if we feel that something is not right instead of whining and complaining we should make the effort to change it. We keep depending on other people to make things better or we keep blaming the government for being corrupt but how many times have we done anything to help our country prosper?
Change and revolution is always brought about because of an individual’s effort. There is always one person who takes a stand and then a whole lot follows. If you are 18 plus you should cast your vote for whomever you think deserves it because every vote counts. Never underestimate the power of one! One person can bring about a change so let that person be you.
How many of you are over 18 and haven’t registered to cast your vote in the upcoming elections? Why is it that people do not go and cast their vote when they have the legal authority to do so? Why do people constantly complain about corrupt leaders when they themselves aren’t willing to do anything about it?
