I am sure we all have some problems with the strange laws. For instance, US is known for the strange law suits some of its citizens go for, and get away with! What is your take on it?
Have you heard of the famous incident that happened when a lady bought coffee at a McDonalds drive through, spilled it on herself and suffered some minor burns, she then sued Mc Donald’s. Her lawyer managed to convince the jury that it was their fault for not providing a warning that their coffee was going to be hot!
Even after proposing such a ridiculous argument (at least in my opinion) she walked away with millions of dollars in damages. If you haven’t ordered cold coffee then isn’t it a fact that coffee is going to be hot? I mean seriously? She drove with the cup of coffee between her legs, so of course some of it spilled on to her legs, and OF COURSE it was hot!
The jury made a very irrational decision by passing the judgment in the lady’s favor. Do you agree with the decision or do you disagree?
Doesn’t this give an opportunity to citizens to become millionaires on someone else’s account? Anyone can just get some coffee, tip it over burning themselves and then file a lawsuit knowing that the decision will be in their favor. What do you have to say about this particular incident? Do you agree or disagree and why?
This is not the first time that these kind of strange lawsuits have been dealt with in the states but this has happened in many different situations and many times before as well. Do you think suing someone over spilt coffee is a sensible thing to do or does it just show their greed for money that they are hopeful to receive from the multibillion dollar organization?
