Teachers in Bahrain decide not to protest

The General Federation of Bahrain Trade Unions had decided to have a general nationwide strike through out the country that was called off when its members announced that they would be returning to work.  School teachers had planned to join in the strike but agreed not to later on.  Education Minister Dr Majid Al Nuaimi on Monday warned teachers to ignore calls to strike.  He said it deprived students of their right to study.  He also said that some teachers were receiving salaries without carrying out their duties, which was not acceptable and warned those that continued to stay home would be held accountable.
