On April 14, 2012 the news said water crisis has worsened due to prolonged power cut at Dhabeji and KESC was blamed for the shortage. And surprisingly on the 15th of April, 2012 ANP threatened to protest if water crisis continues. On April 19, 2012 newspapers read: Keenjhar Lake — the main source of water supply to Karachi and parts of Thatta district — poisoned as it had been receiving highly contaminated water through a storm drain for the past three days, causing further shortage in water supply to Karachi.
