People say there is no harm in making mistakes because we learn from every mistake that we make. Is this statement really true? Do we really learn from our mistakes? If this is so then why do people repeat the same mistake again and again? Why are we so stubborn? Once we have already faced the consequences from our mistake why do we put ourself through the misery all over again knowing we will end up just as miserable as we did before?

There are numerous examples to prove that we do not learn from our mistakes and we repeat them constantly. A person who has gotten malaria once should obviously be careful and take precautions to avoid getting ill in the same manner  in the future. I know of someone who has gotten it for the fourth time. Obviously they did not learn from their mistake of they would have used mosquito repellent and covered their arms and legs as safety measures.

Parents who know they have Thalassemia in their family yet continue to have children. Although they are aware of the problem they completely disregard the factor and then it has a strong impact on the lives of their children. Even after having one child who has the disease they continue producing more children. Why don’t they learn from the consequences? Why must they continue having children ? It is a must for a couple to be tested for Thalassemia before marriage to avoid such complications.

A girl who has been with a guy who hurts her and leaves her, why does she give him a second chance? Does she really think that he will change in a short period of time and won’t hurt her this time around? Why does she keep going back to him again and again? Doesn’t she learn her lesson the first time?

Why do we make the same mistake over and over again? Why don’t we learn from our mistake and refrain from repeating it in the future? Do we really learn from our mistakes or is this a false statement?
